Story from behind the lens: Just after sunrise, we came upon this pair of lions just off the main River Road by Serena. Despite having been mating for days, the lioness still had her gaze locked on the male, seemingly daring him again and again to prove his worth. Her whole being communicated the challenge, which was clear, though unvoiced; she embodied both strength and independence. She was the one in charge, she was locked in the moment dancing between desire and defiance. Time stood still while we waited for her to decide to let attraction win and allow him advance their generations forward.
