Description: A masked weaver approaches the nest he's building, one blade of grass at a time.
Story from behind the lens: I've always found these industrious and charismatic little birds a delight to observe. The male constructs such an intricate woven nest in the hope of attracting a mate. If the female approves of his handiwork she moves in. If not then she destroys the nest and he must start again! We spent quite some time observing this busy boy build his nest which was suspended over the river. He would swoop back and forth across the water, returning each time with a blade of grass. I hope the female said yes!
