Story from behind the lens: It was late afternoon / early evening. The sun started to set and we started driving back to camp as heavy, dark clouds started to roll overhead! We spotted Kweli's sub-adults taking cover under the shelter of a bush tree. We had seen mama Kweli wandering off with the two cheetah brothers - Mbili & Milele the previous day. During her absence, the sub-adults were on constant alert, calling and looking out for her. As the darkness lowered in the sky, I wondered whether this was also a reflection of their desperate mood.
