Description: Portrait of Logol, one of the Marsh Pride Males
Story from behind the lens: This is a portrait of Logol, one of the male Marsh Pride lions. Early one morning, soon after leaving Governors’ camp, we could see the Marsh Pride males, Logol and Halftail, walking across the grass-plain in front of us so we drove closer to them. They were both making their way back to the Musiara Marsh area of the Mara and both looked as if they had recently fed well. We stopped the jeep to watch them and Logol then sat down in the grass for a rest and this is when I photographed him. I converted the image to black and white as I think this takes away any colour distractions and brings out the personality in an image. Logol looks such a strong, powerful and confident lion as he surveys his surroundings.
