Description: Mother of a young zebra is in fight with a crocodile when they try to reach the other side of the Mara river

Story from behind the lens: This was probably the craziest moment I have ever experienced while traveling. Our guide knew a remote place on the river where we would check whether a crossing would take place. There was a dazzle of zebras going questionably back and forth to the bank. For 6.5 hours everything remained very quiet and there was not much movement. Suddenly, out of nowhere, the zebras' behavior changed completely: they started running wildly and noisily towards the bank, to jump into the water and reach the other side at all costs . Almost all the zebras made it to the other side. Also the one on the picture. This mother was in a fight with a crocodile and was fortunately able to escape after a while. The foal was waiting impatiently on the other side, watching the fight. The feeling that went through my body at the time the zebras' behavior changed at the moment of the crossing is indescribable. I am truly impressed that I was able to experience this and capture it in photos. It was worth the long wait.
