Description: Northern Masked Weaver (Places taeniopterus) starting the intricate weaving of his nest on the banks of the Mara River.

Story from behind the lens: While staying at the Karen Blixen camp on the banks of the Mara River, I was delighted one day to notice dozens of Northern Masked Weavers nest building near my tent. The male Northern Masked Weaver is adept at nest building, as he shows off his weaving skills to attract females during the breeding season. I was able to capture this tiny bird weaving the first reed to start a new nest.
