Description: We came across this beautiful female leopard high up a tree with her kill, concealed mostly by dense foliage.

Story from behind the lens: The few hours we spent with her (and her male cub who was nearby) were an absolute joy as they were up and down trees and out in the open, both together and apart, with and without the kill. Of the hundreds of images I took from this wonderful sighting, I chose to submit this one as it represents the true nature of the leopard: solitary, hidden and elusive. The light on the cat was constantly changing with the sun disappearing behind clouds and the wind moving the leaves in the tree. She kept moving or closing her eyes to nap. When the light was finally on her face together with her eyes open, I was delighted to get some images of her with the forelegs of her kill highlighted with her face in the frame.
