Description: A lion is guarding his kill.

Story from behind the lens: The hardest part for the Marabou Storks is waiting for this king to decide he is done with his freshly killed Wildebeest dinner so they can move in.

We came upon the scene on the Mara Triangle near the rift late in the afternoon. The sun was lower in the sky backlighting the scene creating a nice rim of light around the lion’s mane.
