Description: A lone cheetah patrols the savannah in search of an area where prey might be present.
Story from behind the lens: We got word that a cheetah was traversing the open savannah and immediately drove to the location. Not an animal was in sight except for the predator who walked determinedly through the tall grass. Rather than approach closer for a more standard image, I thought it would be unique to place this beautiful cat in the context of its environment. We stayed remained a good distance away so that even with my EF 600mm the cheetah would be small in the frame. My camera was mounted on a tripod, with legs extended flat, for a low camera angle of my doors-off jeep.
