Description: A lioness unperturbed by the swarms of flies, whilst she keeps guard in the Maasai Mara.

Story from behind the lens: Whilst on a morning game drive in the Maasai Mara, we came across a lioness keeping watch over her cubs as flies swarmed around her. The expression on her face was one of calm and resilience. Using a fast shutter speed I managed to capture a single fly in front of her nose. I made the image black and white to enhance the details of her expression.
