Description: The Lion walks out of the woods with a wound

Story from behind the lens: We were photographing another Lion in the Mara Triangle for an hour or so. Suddenly, this magnificent blonde Lion comes strolling out of the woods and down the hill, obviously looking for the other. He was striking as he strolled out into the sunshine and his blonde mane was huge and shining. I thought he was one of the most beautiful lions I had seen! As he came closer into view, we noticed blood on his face and on his legs, especially his front left leg. It seems he was in some type of fight, perhaps with another lion, or more likely wounded while trying to secure food to eat.
