Description: A solitary black rhino walks through the Mara Triangle.

Story from behind the lens: This rhino was walking across a valley to move from one wooded area to another, keeping his distance from the vehicles. This was the first rhino I had seen in the Mara and it was obvious how nervous he was around humans. Of all the moments in the Mara, this one got to me the most. It was heart wrenching to see how scared he was of us - we stayed far, far away from him. We humans have a lot of work ahead of us to mend our relationship with wildlife and nature.
