Description: Frame showing an Impala just before sunrise in Maasai Mara
Story from behind the lens: One of the most beautiful about Maasai Mara is the ability to give stunning, dramatic landscapes every single day regardless of the weather. In April 2017, I got to witness many of those. In the wild, I always start my day early in search of beautiful light and morning action. As much as I love to see the action Mara has to offer, am always on the look out for small still moments that also tell the story of this great park. On this specific day, I got to witness dramatic skies just before the sun came up and on the horizon, I noticed this Impala that was just staring into the distance. For a second I felt I connected with him. He might have been looking out for predators but somehow that moment connected with me. He was all alone. Just like I mostly are when photographing wildlife. I work best in solitude. I felt that stare and the dramatic sky painted a perfect photo that would describe me and my work.
