Description: Portrait of Agama Lizard

Story from behind the lens: As we were out on our morning game drive we spotted this Agama lizard sunning himself on a dead tree branch. I was really taken with the beautiful cerulean & turquoise colours on his face, neck & body. At first I was taking some portraits with a 400 mm lens, but as he was pretty chilled we were able to move a little closer & I had time to add a 2x converter to take a more intimate portrait. By also opening the car door & lying on the vehicle floor I was able to get a low angle & get eye level & frame the agama against the grass background which really complemented the blues of the lizard. It was one of my favorite portraits from my last trip as I think it shows the beauty of even the smallest species.
