Description: A male Hartebeest was conspicuous standing on top of dirt mound, and a female stopped by. The soft light made the colors particularly intencse.
Story from behind the lens: During a break from looking for lions in the late afternoon, we drove by an area with many ungulates. A male Hartebeest had moved on top of a dirt mound and was looking around, standing tall. After a couple of minutes, a female showed up and stood there without reacting to the male. Eventually the male turned its head and looked at her for a minute. Our driver chose a perfect vantage point, in a location where we could place the pair against an uncluttered background far away.
