Story from behind the lens: There were two males in this pride. Each night they began a patrol of their territory by going in opposite directions from each other, and by morning they would meet up again, having circumnavigated their territory. We knew that there was a specific route that one of the males would take which would bring him to the crest of a small hill just after sunrise. We left early to ensure we were there in time and waited. As he appeared over the crest, framed by the branch of a tree and in perfect golden light, I was able to take this shot.
