Description: Four hyenas stand at the ready, watching intensely

Story from behind the lens: On my last morning in the Mara, Peter Sasiet (my guide) and I drove to a buffalo corpse we had spotted the night before. Predictably, a the corpse was the site of a feeding frenzy, with lions, hyenas, and jackals all competing for a meal. These hyenas, frightened off by two male lions from the Offbeat coalition, stood at a safe distanced and watched the scene unfold.
