Description: An adorable lion cub walks out of the shadows and into the morning light in the wild savannah of the Masai Mara, Kenya.

Story from behind the lens: After a night in the bush, a lion cub seeks out its mother, probably to nurse and play with her. Stepping into the light, it's adorable face is awash with the golden morning light while the rest of its body is steeped in the shadow. The contrast between light and shadow is dramatic and magical, and I feel fortunate to have captured such a moment. As the cub was on the move, the fast shutter speed was necessary to freeze the motion. Adjusting the shadows in post processing darkened the background.
