Description: Portrait of Nyekundu, one of the kings of the Enkoyanai pride

Story from behind the lens: Nyekundu is one of most striking male lions in the Mara conservancies, so it's always exciting to have the opportunity to photograph him. We caught up with the breakaway Enkoyanai pride one afternoon & Nyekundu & his brother were with them but all were sleeping. We waited patiently for them to start to move & as Nyekundi came through the bushes & looked towards his brother I took a series of images. The late afternoon light & some underexposure gives him a glorious glow in this portrait.
