Description: I find elephant trunks fascinating and love to watch them in action. I was happy to get this shot of a particular twirling motion, with the mud spattered tusks in the frame.
Story from behind the lens: Elephants are also renowned for their incredible memory capacity: a matriarch can lead her herd to a watering hole she has remembered from years past. These incredible creatures are a keystone species , meaning they play a critical role in their ecosystem, ensuring the survival of other species. Having faced huge population decline due to loss of habitat and ivory poaching, I hope that we continue to protect them and never forget their importance in the world.
