Description: Cheetah Eyes a Jackel

Story from behind the lens: As we observed Risaisi and her two cubs early one morning, a Black-backed Jackel was constantly milling around the area and watching for what he could steal. Mom was vigilant in her efforts to protect her cubs and keep the Jackel at bay. This image shows mom hiding and waiting to spring out if need be. However, in the end, it was one of the cubs who took off and gave chase against the bigger Jackel. I was very surprised at his courage!
