Description: A grasshopper invited this lucky lilac-breasted roller on a prestigious lunch date. The hungry bird happily accepted!

Story from behind the lens: While heading back to camp after a full day spent photographing the majesty of the Maasai Mara, we came across this lilac-breasted roller. My husband and I are both wildlife photographers so our guide knew that the roller was a 'must stop' wildlife sighting. The beautiful bird was hanging around on the ground posing for its portrait session until it suddenly took off. Seconds later it came back with a big grasshopper in its beak! It was flipping the grasshopper up in the air to reposition the it for easier consumption. It was a fun exchange and made for a wonderful photo session! (Probably not so wonderful for the grasshopper.)
