Description: A lone zebra heads to the river

Story from behind the lens: I chose to photograph this single zebra approaching the Mara River anticipating a crossing. This single animal reveals the cautious movement and anxious expression that many zebra convey at this point. The dust cloud and the scuff of dirt at its feet create the careful approach to the river. Alert ears, flared nostrils and wide eyes convey the riskiness of the attempt.
