Description: Fig walks purposefully with her fresh kill of a warthog. She had decapitated her kill and fed before I saw her. Now she was walking towards the general area where her cub waited to share the bounty

Story from behind the lens: Sammy and I were driving in a gully of a dirt road when we spotted Fig crossing through a thicketed area. Then we saw she had a fresh kill. We stopped the vehicle and waited trying to gauge what direction she might take. To my surprise and delight, she walked directly towards us. Because the vehicle was in a gully, Fig was at my eye level for this special moment. Fig died of natural causes a mere 2 months after I took this image which makes this special moment a treasure for me.
