Description: A blonde mane lion emerges from the brush in the early morning, it is evident with the torn lip and fresh blood that an injury on a recent hunt is the source of his condition.

Story from behind the lens: Our party was on the way to a cheetah family sighting when Tiampati our guide brought the sighting of two big boys to our attention which we checked out. One male was a dark maned lion and was already in the open grass when we arrived. He was watching for his brother and we spotted him approaching and was able to get a shot with this head turn that revealed the injury. This was in the Mara Triangle Conservancy.
