Description: Sub adult lion with Giraffe Kill

Story from behind the lens: We found the three lion sub adults that had been recently kicked out of the Moniko Pride just before sunrise. We then watched as this sub adult hunted down a tiny giraffe calf despite its mothers desperate efforts. The speed & tenacity shown by this lion was truly impressive. The three lions fed together for a period & then this sub adult decided to take a trophy to eat on his own & that's when I took the opportunity to shoot some tighter portraits of him with the kill. The early morning side lighting gives the lion a golden glow.
