Description: A mating pair of lion engage in the pre-nuptials courtship, with a beautiful low angle providing a background of the vast savannah below

Story from behind the lens: We found this mating pair and got our equipment ready in the anticipation of them mating again in the next half hour. I discretely lowered my camera out onto the ground beside the vehicle using my monopod, and I was using a remote shutter to control the camera. Thankfully the migration had been through this area in the last few weeks so the grass was nice and short. The low angle here is key to image's success. Giving me a beautiful soft and delicate foreground, free from any large distractions and also bringing in the sweeping landscape into the background. Thankfully my guide had positioned us perfectly in anticipation of where the lion would move to once they stirred and I was able to get this image of the lioness looking directly at the camera as she was trying to seduce the male to go for another round.
