Description: The most curious cub playing lookout with a watchful eye while its siblings lounge among the tall grasses before the migration arrives in the Maasai Mara

Story from behind the lens: It's late June in the Maasai Mara. The migration is still slowly making its way, mowing down the grass as it moves towards the Mara. This makes for difficult sighting in the tall grasses, especially for Lion cubs who blend into their surroundings with their wheat-colored coats and yellow eyes. I captured the moment when one of the most curious cubs peeked a look around as its siblings were lounging about. I like that you can only see one eye clearly and you know there are multiple cubs nearby. I chose black and white for this image for the contrast it lends to viewing the cubs in the grass.
