Description: A young cub stakes its claim on a share of the kill

Story from behind the lens: The large Topi pride had once again used their skill and numbers to take down a buffalo in the Rhino Ridge area of the Mara. While enjoyable to watch the 20+ lions feast on the buffalo, it was the 2 new-born cubs of 2-3 months old that entertained us the most. With all attention on the kill, they proceeded to chew ears, jump on tails and generally play to alleviate boredom. It was only when most of the lion pride had moved off that one of the tiny cubs jumped on the kill and tried to stake a claim on his share of the buffalo. Here was a little cub with big ambitions!
