Description: oxpeckers take off from a giraffe
Story from behind the lens: During one night of a week where I was hosting a photography group, we tried for silhouette shots. Our guide Jonathan spotted giraffes on the horizon and we started working with that. It was an ok shot, but not spectacular. As we were about to drive off, Jonathan pointed out a giraffe that was filled with oxpeckers. He suspected they were going to fly off and realised, just like me, that would make for a very different silhouette shot as well. So without thinking he quickly moved the vehicle forward in the right position, giving me the few precious second I needed to get the settings right and I was just able to get this. Without Jonathan's insights of what was about to happen and knowing what position would make a good shot, this never could have happened!
