Description: Depicted in the photo is the Sala's Pride, 6 members of it on the move, hiding in the tall grass. It was taken in February 2021.
Story from behind the lens: All day long we were seeing lions, resting in shade to preserve energy, but not active. So when we saw another one resting a kilometer away, we wondered should we check it out, but we did anyway. As soon as we were on the move so was he. It turned out, he was the last lion of the whole pride to leave the comfortable shade with the rest (8) walking ahead of him, kind of like he was making sure a danger doesn't follow them. A long loop took us ahead of the pride, we parked the car and just waited. Luckily, the leader did not hesitate at all and came straight in our direction. Really hard to squeeze as many lions as possible in my view finder, but I was able to fit in 6 from the lower window. The whole thing took less than 2 minutes from when we saw the one and we drove around, they were gone soon. Magic I will never forget. I named it after the Greek mythical creature with the Lion's head and the body of a snake.
P. S I am actually not sure about the name of the camp that we were staying, escapes my memory. But the name of the pride is correct.
