Description: Mpaka, a lone cheetah male surveys his surroundings from the vantage point of a termite mound.
Story from behind the lens: Having already seen cheetahs in the BBC area, we left as the sighting was very crowded. Twenty minutes later, we saw what looked like another cheetah sat on a termite mound under a tree. We came closer and found Mpaka, a big solitary male, completely alone. He seemed relaxed but as cheetahs do, was constantly surveying his surroundings. It was a privilege to spend a few minutes with him as he posed, without any other cars around. He looked magnificent with the backdrop of the savannah and a painted sky behind him- I hope I've done him justice!
