Description: Long-crested eagle
Story from behind the lens: The Maasai Mara is a good place to long-crested eagles, especially the Mara Triangle, but views are usually similar with them perched in trees. We were crawling through thickets near Kichwa Tembo airstrip looking for black rhino when we suddenly came across this eagle on a low shrub. It seemed as surprised as us to meet at eye level. The purple flowers is what made the sighting special for me.
