Description: A rival hyena races to the scene of a recent zebra kill.

Story from behind the lens: A pack of hyenas were feeding ferociously on a recent zebra kill. As I watched, this rival male came bounding over to join in. He had received the 'message' from the feeding clan and was determined to get his share. After some fierce fighting, he was accepted, and took his share of the spoils. I chose to capture the action with my Canon 300mm 2.8 lens by using a slow shutter speed to give the image movement, whilst blurring out the background and the herd of impala on the skyline who seemed oblivious to the drama taking place.
