Description: Cheetah mom had a successful hunt and called her cubs to finish off the still half alive impala.

Story from behind the lens: Naiboisho is full of surprises, especially early in the morning . We came across a cheetah mom giving chase to an impala. We cautiously followed to find her having caught the impala which was severely injured but still alive. At that moment, the cheetah mom called her cubs to come and finish off the dying impala. One of the cubs held the impala by the leg, another cub was throttling the impala, whole the third cub was looking on. The cheetah mom was proudly supervising her cubs in a very teachable moment.

The sun was in our favor and the position was perfect to capture the cheetah family in the light of the early morning sun. Sadly they did not get to enjoy the kill because a few moments later a hyena appeared and stole the impala from them. I never get tired of seeing these real live moments and natural behavior in beautiful animals. I love to capture moments like this that showcase the animal behaviors in their natural habitat.
