Description: Male lion engages photographer in a staring contest.

Story from behind the lens: Sun had set on the Mara. Light was fading quickly. This male lion starts making his way towards us. As he approaches the tall grass, he dips his head and closes his eyes. As the grasses move past his face, his head rises and eyes open, looking straight at me. He sees me. I see him. Our gazes lock for a moment. In that split second I feel a surge of adrenaline surge through my veins. The lion eventually looses interest in me, and continues on his path.
