Description: This mother Serval was hunting for her kits when the Hyena approached. She stood her ground and the Hyena moved past her.

Story from behind the lens: We had happily observed and photographed a mother Serval and her three kittens over the evening. I was shocked and terrified when this Hyena came strolling up the hill towards them. The kittens were in hiding and he was coming directly towards the mother Serval. I didn't know if he would attack her and kill her. She stood her ground and you can see by her ears back that she would have done battle. Mysteriously, he came within feet of her and then walked on past her. Whew!
