Description: I feel an image like this is such an iconic visual statement of the beauty and bounty of the Kenyan landscape and the Maasai Mara.
Story from behind the lens: Before ever setting foot on Kenyan soil, I had long dreamed of seeing animals on the vast plains as the sun was setting in the background. So when my childhood dream became a reality, the emotion that followed was expected.
With the help of our fantastic guide, Samson Itur Lokot, and the spotter, Masek Koipapi Ole, I was able to get out of the vehicle and lay down in the grass to take pictures. I purposely exposed the shot so that you could see some of the Zebra's stripes so it wouldn't be just a black silhouette. I believe this minor detail adds more depth to the photograph.
