Description: Beautiful light, electric action, drama, and the raw power of the king of beasts in the wild corner of the Mara Triangle.

Story from behind the lens: As one of the females attracted the attentions of the beautiful dark male in this image, the lighter boy appeared to the far left from behind a ridge and rapidly made his way into the scene sparking an ensuing fight. These boys took their intentions seriously and fought a vicious battle for the right to breed this female. All of this took place right in our view and in close quarters. The sights and sounds of the battle are seared into my memory and is an experience I never dreamed of having in my lifetime.
