Description: A lioness descends the trunk of a tree over a beautiful stretch of river in the Mara reserve

Story from behind the lens: We'd spent the morning with one group of lions, watching as many other cars came and went, staying for only a handful of minutes. Our patience was eventually rewarded as they looked to cross the river and, having done so, one lioness climbed the tree trunk, checked her surroundings and then descended again.
