Description: A lioness greets her young cub

Story from behind the lens: There were a couple of lionesses in Naboisho Conservancy that had just given a birth a few weeks before our visit, and the guides knew that they had started to bring the cubs out briefly at times. We set out hoping to find them, but it took quite a while before they showed. This lioness had two small cubs, who she was moving before heading off to hunt. We were fortunate that they stopped right in front of our car, and shared a tender moment before continuing on.
