Description: Olope on his morning patrol. We met him at first light and he let us follow for a while. We kept a respectful distance, but just to let me get this photo he came almost straight towards us.

Story from behind the lens: Long ago I was lucky to see his father Frank, so one of my wishes for last years visit, was to find Olope. He is probably the most handsome lion I have ever seen and we had several encounters with him and the pride. A short while ago I got the sad news he didn't survive a fight against two Black Rock males. So now he is sharing his father's fate, to pass away too early. To honour the memory of this magnificent lion, I'm participating with this image in your competition.
