Description: Tree climbing lions aren't common in the Mara so it was a joy to come across this female perched high in the branches.

Story from behind the lens: We came across her with absolutely no other vehicles in sight and spent a good hour or so with her as she scanned the plains not just for her pride members but for other predators - she actually had a baby buffalo kill at the base of the tree. She eventually came down to eat and provided so many wonderful opportunities to photograph her in the time we spent in her company.
