Story from behind the lens: This image was taken after the sun had gone down for the day in the Mara, leaving behind beautiful hues of pink in the sky. With this magnificent sky providing the backdrop, we had King Olope, the fierce and handsome lion, reigning male of the Moniko pride (at the time), looking out at his territory.

With the light progressively reducing and the ISO rapidly increasing, he struck this contemplative pose for us to witness. This image was taken from as low an angle as was possible.
